Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation (KSLOF) announces two new research grants for 2012. John Miller, of Portugal and Badi Samaniego , the Philippines, are the latest winners of the support offered by ‘Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation Research Fellow.’ Join a team of over 11 researchers, from six different countries.
Now in its second decade, the program of research grants from the Foundation subsidizes researchers at doctoral and postdoctoral studies in the world, whose work contributed to a better understanding of health and resistance of coral reefs. Recipients receive financial support for spending on education and research, also taking the opportunity to participate in the Global Reef Expedition, organized by the Foundation.
the Global Reef Expedition is a multinational expedition, lasting five years, featuring some of the most remote and least known reefs worldwide. The scientific data obtained with the Expedition will assist in identifying locations where protection is a priority and will help the development of conservation strategies that mitigate the impacts caused by man and that improve the resilience of coral.
Foundation Executive Director, Capt. Philip Renaud said: “These new grantees will increase significantly, the capabilities of our scientific team to the Global Reef Expedition. incorporate our philosophy Science Without Borders ® ( lit. “Science Without Borders”) and I am confident they will contribute valuable in meeting our goals and objectives.
