class=”xn-location”> TORRANCE, California September 13, 2012 / PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE / – With eight years of successful workshops on driving safety, Toyota announced expansion of its National Advanced Driving Skills for Teens , Toyota Driving Expectations , through partnerships with schools and local dealers, and the continuation of its popular online security.
Toyota established the free teen safe driving in 2004, to complement the standard driving courses with opportunities in real time and learn about defensive driving, the impact of distractions and safety habits. The original course of 2 ½ hours, including driving time and class discussions, and is unique because it requires the involvement of a parent or guardian to support family learning, so that they can continue to act as examples and teachers at home. About 20,000 teens and parents have participated in the program “On the Road” (The Way class=”xn-person”> Toyota Driving Expectations which was among the first to understand the importance of including parents in safe driving programs for teen drivers.
New this year, the host of the National Hot Rod Association , Erica Enders assemblies lead safe driving for teen drivers. This year, twelve have been selected area high schools in Los Angeles and Orange County. Enders, will share his experiences as the first woman to qualify No. 1 in Pro Stock Field of the partnership and the importance of being attentive at the wheel while driving. The assembly “The Road Ahead” (The Way Ahead) also teaches students a high impact video and a practical driving simulator that demonstrates the dangers of a distracted driver.
The third part of the program includes free clinics on safety at Toyota dealers across the country, covering vehicle dynamics and safety modes, defensive driving, distracted driving and the importance of vehicle maintenance. This program offers parents and teens the opportunity to learn to drive with caution through professional instructors in an environment free of sales within your local Toyota dealer.
Finally, the Toyota Teen Driver program offers teens, parents and educators across the country, access to free information and resources on www.toyotateendriver.com . The program also includes the Video of Toyota Teen Driver Challenge and Educator Challenge, which offers teachers and students the opportunity to win prizes and scholarships by demonstrating their commitment to safety. The online content and tools were created in partnership with Discovery Education .
Together, these four programs emphasize Toyota’s commitment to safety behind the wheel and provide adolescents with life-saving tools. National data show that young drivers are more likely to be involved in crashes and die that unlike experienced drivers, and the least wear seat belts or make your passengers wear them.
To further underline its commitment to the safe handling of adolescents, Toyota is doing research to evaluate the effectiveness of a system of electronic training and monitoring for teen drivers who recently received his license, to help reduce unsafe driving behaviors . The investigation is being conducted by the Collaborative Safety Research Center (Collaborative Research Center Security) (CSRC) of Toyota, based Michigan . Started in January 2011, the CSRC’s mission is to serve as a catalyst for the advancement of car safety involving the vehicle, driver and traffic environment.
